House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday received at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh, Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, with whom he discussed the current general situation and developments, especially the security situation, in addition to the Ministry’s preparations for the municipal and mayoral elections.
After the meeting, Minister Mawlawi said he briefed the Speaker on the security situation, and the Ministry’s work to facilitate citizens’ affairs and to preserve the country’s security situation in these difficult circumstances.
Mawlawi reassured that the security situation is still and will remain cohesive thanks to the security forces’ efforts and their patriotism.
Mawlawi added that he briefed Speaker Berri on the atmosphere of the MoI’s preparations for the municipal elections in accordance with the law and constitutional deadlines.
On the other hand, Berri received a response letter from the President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, in which the latter thanked him for his condolences over the victims of the bus crash in central Senegal last month.
