Syrian army air defenses repelled an Israeli missile aggression that targeted some military sites in the central and southern regions, SANA news agency reported early Saturday.
“Our anti-aircraft defense is confronting hostile targets in the skies around Damascus,” the agency said on Telegram after reporting “sounds of explosions” in the vicinity of the Syrian capital.
“Nearly at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Israeli enemy launched an air missile aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan and Lebanese territories, targeting some military sites in the southern and central regions,” the agency quoted a military source as saying.
The source added that the army air defenses intercepted the missiles and downed most of them, indicating that work is still underway to verify the effects of the aggression.
The attack on Syria coincided with an aggression on Iran. Iranian Air Defense Base announced its air defenses have successfully confronted Israeli strikes on some military sites in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam in the early hours of Saturday.
The Zionist entity has been ramping up attacks on Syria in the latest weeks as the region has been witnessing tensions by the Israeli brutal war on Gaza and aggression on Lebanon.
