The ongoing genocide in Gaza marks its 431st day, with a new massacre in the north leaving at least 20 Palestinians dead and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike on Beit Hanoun. More casualties were reported in Al-Nuseirat, Rafah, and Zeitoun.
Amid these massacres, discussions within the Israeli occupation entity suggest a potential prisoner swap and ceasefire with Hamas, though Zionist Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office downplays reports of progress. The Qatari Foreign Ministry has stated that negotiations continue, but any developments are premature.
Hamas has reportedly provided Egypt with a list of elderly and ill Zionist prisoners for release in the first phase of the ceasefire. They also presented names of Palestinian prisoners they seek to free. Sources close to Hamas said their delegation briefed Egypt’s intelligence minister on these efforts, but no breakthrough occurred in the talks.
Hamas emphasized its commitment to ending the conflict and supporting the management of Gaza. Meanwhile, a Zionist official suggested that a prisoner swap could be finalized in one to two weeks, claiming conditions are favorable, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.
However, sources close to Hamas stated that the deal hinges on the Zionist entity agreeing to Egypt’s proposal. Reports from Israeli Channel 12 reveal that it remains uncertain whether Hamas will drop its demand for a permanent ceasefire. Hamas is aware of Israeli occupation’s resistance to any concessions regarding future military operations.
The Zionist cabinet will meet on Thursday to discuss the situation, with reports indicating that Netanyahu may struggle to secure coalition support for the deal. This comes ahead of a visit by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, who will discuss the ceasefire, developments in Lebanon and Syria, and the Gaza prisoner swap with Israeli officials.
