Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Ali Fayyad denounced on Wednesday the continuous Israeli violations against Lebanon, calling on the Lebanese State to reconsider the feasibility of the ceasefire monitoring committee.
In remarks carried by Al-Manar, the Lebanese lawmaker condemned the Zionist strike which killed a Lebanese citizen and his son who is a Lebanese Army soldier as it seriously injured the other son in the southern town of Shebaa a day earlier.
He offered condolences to the family of the martyrs, stressing that “this criminal attack against unarmed civilians only exposes the aggressive nature of this entity, which does not need pretexts to justify its crimes.”
“All enemy’s allegations about military targets are nothing but flimsy lies to cover up its true nature as a criminal terrorist entity,” MP Fayyad added.
He affirmed that the this “repeated targeting of civilians is a flagrant violation of the national sovereignty, the ceasefire agreement, as well as international conventions, norms, and humanitarian laws.”
MP Fayyad called on the Lebanese State to take a firm stance on both local and international levels.
“This situation requires a firm stance by the Lebanese State… whether by reconsidering the usefulness of the ceasefire supervision committee, with which there is no point in continuing coordination with, or by submitting an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council and summoning the ambassadors of the countries that guarantee the agreement, with the aim of pressuring this treacherous enemy and putting an end to its continued aggression, which is supported by a blatant US cover.”
UNIFIL Role
Meanwhile, the Hezbollah MP underlined that any tensions between Lebanese citizens and the UNIFIL must be addressed calmly, wisely and responsibly.

In this context, he noted that the international forces have been carrying out their patrols in the southern town without being accompanied or at least prior coordination with the Lebanese Army.
“At the same time, the Lebanese people see no role for the UNIFIL in addressing the continued Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory, or in halting the incursions, assassinations, and hostile acts carried out by the occupation forces,” MP Fayyad stated.
However, he stressed Hezbollah’s commitment to the Resolution 1701 and coordination with the Lebanese Army, stressing importance of the UNIFIL presence.
