Syrian army seized on Sunday a strategic town in Aleppo’s eastern countryside from ISIL Takfiri group.
Syrian army units on restored security and stability to the strategic town of Maskaneh and a number of towns and significant facilities, including Samomah, al-Aziziyeh and Wardah Kabirah, SANA news agency reported.
The agency also quoted a military source as saying that the army units regained full control over the 2nd and 3rd water pumping stations and the large electricity generators of al-Khafseh water pumping station in the eastern countryside of Aleppo after inflicting heavy losses upon ISIL terrorists in personnel and equipment.
The source added that the engineering units dismantled the mines and explosive devices which were planted by ISIL terrorists in the streets and in the surroundings of the towns and villages.
Maskana was a key target for the Syrian army, and lies around 15 kilometers from neighboring Raqa province, ISIL’s stronghold in Syria.
“Maskana area is the last important civilian population center on the eastern border of Aleppo province before Raqa province,” AFP news agency quoted a Syrian military source as saying.
