Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned US President Donald Trump that the United States wouldn’t be able to buy Ankara’s support at the United Nations on Al-Quds issue, adding that he expects the world to teach Washington “a very good lesson” over its decision to recognize the city as the capital of the Zionist entity.
“Mr. Trump, you cannot buy Turkey’s democratic will with your dollars,” Erdogan said in a speech in Ankara on Thursday, according to Reuters. The Turkish leader’s remarks follow threats by President Trump to cut US aid to countries which support a draft resolution at the UN calling on Washington to renege on its decision on Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
“I hope and expect the United States won’t get the result it expects [at the UN], and [that] the world will give a very good lesson to the United States,” Erdogan added.
