Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that the US and ‘Israel’ are ordering riots and unrest in Iran after their failure to defeat the Islamic Republic militarily.
President Pezeshkian denounced the destructive role of the US and the Zionist regime in upsetting international peace, security and stability.
“All attempts by the US and the Zionist regime are aimed at prolonging war and insecurity in the region, preventing the formation of unity among the Islamic countries, and creating division in order to be able to carry out their sinister plots and objectives,” the Iranian president added.
Denouncing the US’ hypocritical actions in the course of nuclear talks with Iran, Pezeshkian said the world witnessed how Washington torpedoed diplomacy and dialogue while Iran was at the negotiating table and how the US committed anti-human crimes in violation of the international law by attacking Iran, he added.
Pezeshkian noted that the US is now trying to proceed with the same hostile policies from a different path, this time by provoking people into riots and chaos. “However, the Iranian nation will support their country and establishment more firmly than before.”
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani stressed the need for crackdown against elements stoking insecurity and damaging people and public property amid riots in the country.
In an interview with IRIB, Larijani said the Judiciary must take decisive action against those who create insecurity, kill people, and vandalize public properties in the riots that have engulfed a number of cities in Iran in recent days.
It is necessary to draw a distinction between protests and riots, he added.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says Iran recognizes people’s peaceful protests over economic concerns, but stands firmly against armed terrorists.
He made the remarks during an open session of Parliament on Sunday in the face of foreign-linked sporadic riots across the country.
“Today, the Iranian nation has decided firmly to stand against armed terrorists … We will recognize rightful protests and will seriously investigate them, while standing against terrorists,” he said.
