The Head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee Ebrahim Azizi said a bill aiming to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz was formally introduced in the Parliament.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Azizi said the bill was titled “Strategic Action for the Security and Sustainable Progress of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.”

He noted that introducing the bill coincided with the downing of US drones over the strategic waterway.

Azizi stressed, meanwhile, that Tehran remains steadfast in defending its “red lines,” particularly with regards to the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

“We remain steadfast in defending our red lines, particularly regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz. This is the first step; subsequent measures are forthcoming,” the Iranian lawmaker stated.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shot down a US MQ-1 drone in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state-run broadcaster IRIB reported.
