President Joseph Aoun affirmed to the Orthodox Gathering delegation that “the framework formula is the best possible and has begun to yield results, and Washington is now listening to us, and the Lebanon file is on the table of the American president,” and he said: “Our goals are clear and we will not compromise regarding Lebanon’s rights.”
He stressed that “the right to disagree is legitimate, not to quarrel, and dialogue among the Lebanese should be under the umbrella of national interest and not to prioritize personal interests.”
He considered that “hatred does not build a state or institutions, but rather destroys them, and the Lebanese must choose what will save their country and protect it from the ambitions of others.”
He explained that “the road is not paved and there are difficulties, but there is great hope for achieving results that will end the bloodshed.”
