The Jordanian government on Sunday confirmed that no evacuation orders had been issued for Aqaba Airport or the nearby port, dismissing US reports suggesting otherwise.
Government spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communication Mohammad Momani said both facilities are operating normally, adding that any potential risks are handled by the relevant authorities in line with established emergency procedures, including the immediate activation of warning systems when necessary.
Momani also noted that no threats had been recorded by Jordanian authorities in recent hours.
Earlier on Sunday, the US Embassy in Amman said that Jordanian authorities had evacuated both sites due to a “specific and credible threat” and advised US citizens to avoid traveling to the area.

The denial came amid heightened tensions in the region, where the US has launched attacks on Iran, promoting the Islamic Republic to retaliate with strikes targeting facilities and bases used by the US military in several regional countries, including Jordan.
Iran strikes on Jordan killed two US soldiers and left one missing and many others injured, the US CENTCOM announced on Saturday.
Damage at US Base in Jordan
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency released on Sunday satellite imagery indicating damage to hangars used for US fighter jets at Muwaffaq Salti military base in Jordan following an Iranian attack.
According to the report, the images show destruction of facilities used for pre-flight inspections, arming and refueling, as well as technical maintenance and minor repairs of aircraft. Tasnim said the strike also resulted in casualties.
