The Head of Yemeni National Delegation Mohammad Abdul Salam warned Saudi Arabia on Saturday that the continued blockade of Yemen could trigger a new phase of escalation, declaring that naval restrictions would be met with a “siege-for-siege” response.
“The naval blockade is the first step in a battle of siege by siege, and our people will not relinquish their rights without taking them by any means necessary,” Abdul Salam said in a post on his X account.
His stressed that the Saudi aggressive airstrike on Sana’a International Airport, earlier this month, highlighted Saudi Arabia’s role in keeping the facility closed.
“The aggressive airstrike on Sana’a International Airport serves as a reminder to those who have forgotten that Saudi Arabia insists on keeping the airport closed and that it will only reopen with royal permission,” he said.

Abdul Salam accused Riyadh of attempting to justify the airport closure while claiming to defend Yemeni sovereignty, saying: “Saudi Arabia insists on closing Sana’a Airport and issues a statement claiming to be defending ‘Yemeni sovereignty.’”
He added, “Saudi Arabia is like Israel in every way… in its lies, arrogance, hatred, and aggression.”
The top Yemeni negotiator also criticized international positions backing the blockade, saying that “hiding behind unjust UN statements imposed by Saudi oil relations cannot conceal the reality of the unjust blockade on Yemen.”
He accused Saudi Arabia of seeking to offset the failure of its previous war, which was launched in March 2015, through continued pressure on Yemen.
“The unjust blockade on Yemen is orchestrated by an aggressive kingdom that waged a war for eight years and failed, and now seeks to compensate for its losses through this blockade,” Abdul Salam said.
He further warned Riyadh against any miscalculation, saying that its policies had turned it into “a clear enemy of Yemen.”
“What Saudi Arabia must realize at this stage is that, due to its miscalculation, it has made itself a clear enemy of Yemen,” he said, warning that “Saudi Arabia’s insistence on stubbornness and refusal to accept the truth will have serious consequences for it, its security, and its economy.”
In another post, Abdul Salam warned that any aggression against Yemen “will not go unanswered, and the Saudi regime must bear the consequences of its criminal acts.”

إن أي عدوان يتعرض له اليمن لن يمر دون رد، وعلى النظام السعودي أن يتحمل عواقب أعماله الإجرامية.
Abdul Salam’s remarks come after Saudi Arabia launched a fresh attack on Yemen’s Hodeidah, prompting retaliatory strikes targeting several Saudi sites in the Kingdom’s south.
