Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, MP Hasan Fadlallah, said that the Israeli enemy is carrying out acts of destruction and bulldozing in the border villages and towns, and seeks to erase every aspect of life in these villages.
“This is happening in full view of the authority, which signed an agreement with it that gives it legitimacy for its occupation and practices. The authority has not even demanded a halt to this crime against the villages of the South. We have not heard a single word from it, nor seen any action demanding and working to stop the destruction and bulldozing. Nor did those who went to Washington, whether through negotiations or otherwise, raise the demand to stop the destruction in the border villages as one of Lebanon’s conditions. Instead, this vital demand was left aside, allowing the enemy to continue committing this crime against humanity.”
MP Fadlallah’s remarks came during a commemorative ceremony held by Hezbollah for the two martyrs, Mohammad Hussein Ali Shahrur and Mohammad Ishaq Qashaqesh, at the Hounin Complex in Ghobeiry, in the presence of a number of clerics, dignitaries, figures, the families of martyrs, and a gathering of locals.
MP Fadlallah added: “Until now, this authority has not brought us any option that can achieve even the minimum of national objectives.” He asked: Did this authority present us with a reasonable option open to discussion and solution that we then rejected? Even from the perspective of those who went to direct negotiations, what did they gain from them?
“Rather, the dangerous step this authority took was to allow the occupation to remain as long as there are resistance weapons. That is, the authority signed a deed that legislates the presence of the occupation and its practices. Meanwhile, some in Lebanon tell us: We are in the authority,” but “we are not in the negotiating authority, we are in the government.” It is known why we participate in it and for what national reasons. This is not a one-party government, and the government has never been, since Taif until now, a one-color government. It has always been a coalition government of multiple parties. We oppose from inside the government even while we are part of it, and others do the same.”
In the face of the Zionist danger, MP Fadlallah said, we have no other options to defend our country and protect our presence in Lebanon except the option of the Resistance: that it be capable, strong, ready, and present. That we offer sacrifices, and that our young men go to fight in defense of this existence.
“If we had other options we would have resorted to them. The proof is that after the last ceasefire we remained committed to the agreement for 15 months. Many people, including our opponents, our friends, and our own people, were asking why we were not responding while the enemy was killing our people. But we wanted to avoid war and to look for other options. We turned to the state and told it: it is your duty to act. That is, we have no objection to handing this matter over to the state if it fulfills its duties and responsibilities and is able to liberate and protect the land. And we are ready to agree with it on a strategy they call ‘national security’ or ‘national defense strategy’ based on how to protect the country in the coming years.”
“But this option did not succeed. And regardless of the individuals in authority, if we are presented with an option other than confrontation and resistance to the enemy that achieves the required objectives, we will go to that option. But this does not exist.”
MP Fadlallah stressed that all we demand in Lebanon is the protection of our sovereignty and our land, preventing the enemy from achieving its ambitions, and that our people live in safety and stability. As for the internal level, all we want is partnership within state institutions. Even if they told us “rule all of Lebanon,” we would not accept.
“What we want is to be partners within state institutions according to our size, our representation, and according to the rules of the Charter and the Constitution. So to anyone asking what Hezbollah wants, we say: what the national duo in Lebanon wants is for the South to be liberated and protected, for its people to return to it, for it to be rebuilt, for the prisoners to be released, and for Israel not to violate our national sovereignty by air, land, or sea. And for the elements of strength — the army, the Resistance, and the people — to be integrated in order to provide a protective umbrella for Lebanon.”
Internally as well, we want a state that rules by law and gives people their rights. That the state fulfill its duties and discharge its obligations. This is what we want in Lebanon, but unfortunately this does not exist at the level of the authority, neither in the past nor even now.
MP Fadlallah affirmed that this Resistance exists, remains, and continues, adding: “It is what today forms the barrier preventing the Israeli enemy from settling on our land or from achieving its historic project of annexing South Lebanon, especially south of the Litani, and settling it.”
