Lebanon’s Aoun Meets Quintet Committee, Conference to Support Army Scheduled for March 5

Lebanese Joseph Aoun met with representatives of Quintet Committee, which includes Saudi Arabia, France, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, and discussed preparations for a conference to support the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces.

Saudi Foreign Ministry Adviser Prince Yazid bin Farhan, French envoy and former minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, and the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia Walid Bukhari, Egypt Alaa Moussa, Qatar Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and France Hervé Magro, as well as Qatari Assistant Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Thani attended the meeting at Baabda Presidential Palace.

“The meeting focused on preparations for a conference to support the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces,” National News Agency NNA reported.

Participants also agreed to carry out the necessary contacts to ensure the broadest possible international participation in the conference.

Following the meeting, the Lebanese Presidency Spokeswoman Najat Sharafeddine announced that the conference to support the Lebanese Army is set to take place in Paris on March 5th.
