Hezbollah said Lebanese authorities have taken no action in line with their national and sovereign responsibilities as the Israeli occupation entity continues to destroy villages in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, Hezbollah affirmed that the Israeli enemy was continuing, in full view of the Lebanese authorities and the international community, its terror and crimes against southern Lebanon as part of an expansionist campaign, destroying villages, burning homes, bulldozing roads and fields, demolishing schools and hospitals, terrorizing civilians, and erasing the foundations of life in the region.
The group said the actions were aimed at preventing residents from returning to their villages, homes, and lands, which it said had been watered with their sacrifices and the blood of their martyrs.
Hezbollah said the primary responsibility for the continuation of what it called these crimes rests with the silent Lebanese authorities, who are absent and complicit after granting the Israeli enemy legitimacy for its occupation and actions through the signing of the “framework agreement.”
It said the authorities were ignoring the destruction and failing to exert political and diplomatic pressure internationally to halt the demolitions and make the issue a top priority in all engagements and contacts.
The Lebanese group called on the Lebanese authorities not to turn their backs on the people of the south and to listen to their suffering as they witness their homes destroyed, fields burned, and villages erased. It said residents of southern Lebanon seek protection of their land and security, adding that this was primarily the responsibility of the state. If the authorities were unable to fulfill their duties, Hezbollah said, they should at least not prevent people from exercising what it described as their legitimate right to defend themselves and their land.
Hezbollah also urged the Lebanese authorities to assume their national and constitutional responsibilities and immediately act on all political and diplomatic levels to stop what it described as the Israeli enemy’s destruction. It called on the international community and all its institutions to fulfill their responsibilities, compel Israel to halt its attacks, and withdraw from all occupied Lebanese territory.
