Speaker Berri Meets Le Drian: Lebanon Committed to Resolution 1701, Israeli Aggression Unacceptable

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri received French presidential envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain Al-Tineh. Le Drian was visiting in his capacity as representative of the Quintet, in the presence of French Ambassador Hervé Magro and Speaker Berri’s advisers, Dr. Mahmoud Berri and Ali Hamdan.

The meeting reviewed developments in Lebanon and the wider region, as well as preparations for the international conference scheduled to be held in Paris on March 5, aimed at supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces and the country’s security agencies.

Speaker Berri commended “the French efforts and the efforts of all countries supporting Lebanon and its army, which has fulfilled all its required duties.

“Lebanon has complied with and continues to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and with the November 2024 agreement. The Israeli enemy’s continued aggression against Lebanon is unacceptable.”

He underscored the daily Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and its ongoing occupation of parts of southern Lebanon.

The Israeli enemy continues to bomb Lebanon, mainly the country’s south, almost daily and maintains occupation over five posts along the southern border, in violation of a ceasefire deal reached following the 2024 Israeli war.

Separately, Speaker Berri also received Minister of Telecommunications Charles Hajj. The meeting addressed the latest developments and issues related to the telecommunications sector.
