Member of Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary bloc, Hajj Ali Ammar, issues on Tuesday a statement which blasts the latest remarks of the Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, stressing that the latter is no longer distinguishing between the enemy occupying Lebanon’s land and the Resistance defending it.
MP Ammar questioned Salam on the absence of the governmental rhetoric against the daily Israeli violations and attacks.
What follows is the full text of MP Ammar’s statement:
It is strange and astonishing that the pillars of the Prime Minister were shaken when the authority was described as, whether knowingly or unknowingly, providing a service to the Israeli enemy. This prompted him to hasten to issue a statement repeating the same worn-out tune.
It is worth noting that we do not see this strange rush, this enthusiasm, or this tone in confronting the daily crimes committed by the enemy against Lebanon — the assaults on sovereignty, the destruction of villages, the bulldozing, bombing of homes, fields, and infrastructure. Nor do we see it in response to statements by enemy leaders who openly declare their rejection of withdrawal from South Lebanon.
The Prime Minister, who has chosen for himself to be outside the picture and outside of action, appears, unfortunately, to no longer distinguish between those who violate sovereignty and occupy the land, and those who defend it. He chose instead to hurl accusations at random, rather than answer the fundamental questions posed by His Eminence the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, and rather than take up his sincere call for dialogue and for unifying the national stance in confronting the occupation.
Has not the path of concessions into which the authority has led Lebanon presented a free gift to the Israeli enemy?
Is not the legitimization of the occupation an assistance to it?
Is not the relinquishing of the right of Lebanon and the Lebanese to prosecute the enemy for its crimes an assistance to it?
Is not antagonizing the Resistance at a time when the occupation continues its aggression against Lebanon an assistance to it?
Then, can the Prime Minister list for the Lebanese a single national gain achieved through the path of direct negotiations, other than more stalling, more attacks, and more concessions?
It would have been more fitting for the Prime Minister to answer these questions instead of fleeing from them with an accusatory speech, and to responsibly receive the sincere call for dialogue, for stopping free concessions, and for unifying efforts to defend Lebanon and its sovereignty.
