West Bank Gripped by Sweeping Raids, Settler Violence, and School Demolition

A multi-pronged Israeli military campaign swept across the West Bank on Tuesday, marked by the detention of 13 Palestinians, a string of settler-led attacks on property, and the demolition of a school facility in the southern Hebron district, according to local sources and witnesses.

In a coordinated wave of arrests spanning several governorates, Israeli occupation forces detained 13 individuals. Notable among those taken into custody was 18-year-old Wissam Yousef Suleiman Jumaa, who was picked up from Wadi al-Far’a, south of Tubas, after being summoned for interrogation at the Huwwara military camp. In the Bethlehem area, a Palestinian was arrested during a raid on the Solomon’s Pools tourist zone, located between al-Khader and Artas. Meanwhile, in Ramallah, forces detained Tariq Muhammad Hashem Qana during an incursion into the village of Umm Safa.

In the northern West Bank, arrests included Zaki Ghaleb Aliyan, 35, and Yazan Hatem al-Qab in Deir al-Ghusun (Tulkarm), alongside Fakhr Muhammad Ghanem in al-Jaroushiya. In Qalqilya, forces rounded up Baraa al-Hajj Hassan, Bilal Hanoun, Saji Abu Adhba, Aws Abu Ali, and Shawqi Hammad. Additional arrests were reported in Jerusalem, where Birzeit University student Tariq Jumhour was seized from his home in Beit Anan, northwest of the city.

Beyond the detention campaign, military units stormed multiple communities east of Bethlehem—including Dar Salah, al-Ubeidiya, al-Shawawra, Za’tara, and Harmala—as well as the Dheisheh refugee camp. During these incursions, journalist Muath Amarna was briefly detained and interrogated for several hours before being released. Forces also raided a commercial kiosk in Beit Fajjar, causing significant damage to its contents. In Tubas, the al-Far’a refugee camp came under heavy military presence, with troops searching several homes, while in al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, stun grenades and tear gas were fired toward residential properties.

Parallel to the military operations, settler violence and land-expansion activities escalated across multiple fronts. In Tubas, settlers attacked a water pipeline serving 12 Palestinian families in the Yarza and Ras al-Ahmar areas, east and southeast of the city, while also erecting new structures along the road to Khirbet Yarza—prompting fears among residents that this could form the nucleus of a new settlement outpost. In Ramallah, settlers attacked a Palestinian family’s vehicle as they were leaving their farm in the Marj area, east of the city, in an apparent attempt to seize the land.

The military also advanced infrastructure plans for existing settlements. In Bethlehem, bulldozers leveled agricultural land in the village of Beit Iskaria to facilitate the relocation of the main gate for the Gush Sarim settlement, part of the wider Gush Etzion bloc built on occupied territory. Meanwhile, in Jenin, occupation forces issued demolition orders for three tourist facilities situated at the Arana roundabout, according to Mahmoud al-Saadi, head of the Arana village council.

The most consequential structural damage, however, occurred in the southern Hebron hills, where Israeli forces demolished two classrooms and a sanitary unit at the Shaab al-Batim school in Masafer Yatta. The destruction of the educational facility underscores the ongoing, stringent enforcement policies in Area C, compounding the humanitarian toll on vulnerable communities already reeling from the day’s widespread arrests and settlement-related aggression.
