The Russian Defense Ministry reported Thursday that its forces struck two Ukrainian cargo vessels in the Black Sea, south and east of the Odessa port, for transporting military supplies destined for Kyiv.
In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that Russian armed forces are continuing their campaign against naval assets operating on behalf of the Ukrainian military. The two ships were targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Wednesday evening while carrying military cargo, it said.
In a separate operational briefing, the Defense Ministry also announced the downing of 605 Ukrainian drones over the preceding 24 hours a figure that underscores the intensity of aerial engagements across multiple frontlines and deep within contested territories.
Coordinated Strikes on Logistics Hubs and Port Facilities
The latest maritime assaults follow a Wednesday announcement in which the ministry detailed precise, direct strikes against logistics centers, long-range drone manufacturing workshops, and associated storage facilities belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces in and around Kyiv. The statement further noted that three additional cargo ships positioned south of Odessa and transporting weapons and military equipment were also targeted on the same day.
On a near-daily basis, Russian forces continue to hit Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, including production and storage sites for medium- and long-range UAVs, decision-making centers, port infrastructure, and other critical facilities deemed to support military operations. These recurring strikes occur amid sustained cross-border attacks by both Moscow and Kyiv, with no immediate indication of de-escalation in the protracted conflict.
