Projectiles dropped by Israeli drones ignited large-scale fires across forests and mountainous areas in southern Lebanon and Western Bekaa, Al-Manar correspondent reported on Sunday.
The fires broke out on Saturday when Israeli drones released incendiary projectiles over the area stretching from the heights of Niha to Kfarhouna, setting trees and forested land ablaze and triggering the rapid spread of flames across rugged terrain that is difficult to access, according to our correspondent.
Firefighting teams from the Islamic Health Society and the Lebanese Civil Defense have been battling the blazes since Saturday, but efforts have been severely hampered by the rugged terrain and the inaccessibility of several burning areas to vehicles, Al-Manar’s Maher Qamar reported.
As the fires continue to expand, calls have intensified for aerial support. However, circulating information indicates that the Lebanese Army has yet to obtain the necessary approvals to deploy aircraft for firefighting operations, further complicating efforts to contain the fires, according to our reporter.
