Hezbollah: Israeli Enemy’s Ongoing Environmental Devastation in Southern Lebanon Persists as Authorities Unable to File a Complaint

Hezbollah Statements

Hezbollah affirmed Sunday that the Israeli occupation entity’s open burning of wooded areas in southern Lebanon, turning them into completely scorched and uninhabitable land, constitutes a continuation of the destruction of buildings, the dismantling of infrastructure, and the destruction of centuries-old olive trees.

The statement added that the ongoing environmental devastation was taking place amid the authorities’ inability even to file a complaint or pursue legal action against the Zionist enemy, arguing that the government had effectively granted “Israel” immunity by committing not to file complaints before international bodies. As a result, it said, the Israeli enemy was continuing its actions with confidence that it would escape accountability.

“This painful contradiction clearly exposes how the authorities are conducting their negotiations and the dangers of the concessions they have made on various issues. Those concessions demonstrated the authorities’ complete inability to safeguard Lebanon’s interests and amounted to a relinquishment of the country’s fundamental rights.”

Hezbollah called on the government, the Ministry of Environment, and all relevant ministries and authorities to raise their voices and take action to halt the Israeli occupation’s savagery against Lebanon’s environment following its attacks on people and the built environment.
