Six Palestinians, including two minors, were injured early Tuesday during an Israeli occupation military incursion into the town of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, as violence across the occupied West Bank intensifies.
Medical personnel from the Palestinian Red Crescent reported treating six individuals for injuries sustained during the operation. According to security and local sources, Israeli forces conducted house-to-house searches in Burqa, ransacking properties and assaulting several residents, who were left with bruises across their bodies.
Settlers Strike Villages South of Nablus
In a separate development, groups of Israeli settlers raided the villages of Awarta, Osrin, and Surra, south of Nablus, in the early hours of Tuesday, according to security and local sources cited by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA. No injuries were immediately reported in those incidents.
Detention Sweeps Across Governorates
The Israeli occupation military also conducted widespread detention operations across the West Bank, with five Palestinians taken into custody in the Bethlehem governorate following raids and searches of their homes.
Forces also carried out incursions into the towns of al-Khader, Tuqu’, al-Ubeidiya, Dar Salah, al-Shawawra, and Za’tara, as well as the village of al-Jab’a, though no arrests or home raids were reported in those locations.
In the Jenin governorate, 11 Palestinians were detained during an extensive campaign targeting neighborhoods in the city and surrounding villages and towns.
Sharp Escalation in Settler Violence
Settler attacks have been escalating across the occupied West Bank, frequently conducted under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, alongside ongoing military raids, detentions, and home demolitions. The sustained pressure is exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation for Palestinian communities.
Data released Monday by Israeli broadcaster Kan, citing security establishment figures, revealed a staggering 63% surge in settler attacks during the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period last year. A total of 660 incidents were documented between January and June 2026, up from 405 in 2025.
Israeli security agencies classify such acts as terrorism, underscoring the severity of the trend. The report also noted a 50% rise in violence directed at Israeli security personnel, with 45 such incidents recorded in the first half of this year.
