Lawmakers from Loyalty to Resistance and FPM Blocs Withdraw from Parliamentary Session over Preventing Defense Minister from Reflecting Army’s Attitude towards Amnesty Law

Lawmakers from the Free Patriotic Movement and the Loyalty to the Resistance blocs withdrew from the parliamentary session in protest against the barring of Defense Minister Michel Menassa from entering the session and delivering a statement on behalf of the Lebanese Army.

MP Ibrahim Moussawi, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, stated that the bloc withdrew “because the Defense Minister was prevented from presenting the Lebanese Army’s and his ministry’s perspective during the session,” noting that the withdrawal occurred before the vote on the amnesty law.

Regarding the media law, Moussawi affirmed the bloc’s insistence on amending several of its articles, announcing that the bloc would initiate the process of gathering and proposing suitable amendments that would be acceptable to all parties.
