Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Hasan Ezzeddine accused Lebanon’s political authority of abandoning the country’s national priorities and legitimizing continued Israeli occupation through the recently signed framework agreement, warning that the government has become detached from realities in southern Lebanon.
Speaking at a local ceremony in tribute of martyrs who fell while defending the homeland in the southern town of Abba, MP Ezzeddine questioned what the authoritiy had achieved under the ministerial statement and declared priorities, asking: “Where are these priorities now?”
He said the authority’s decision to enter direct negotiations with ‘Israel’ reflected “a convergence of will and position” with the United States, which he accused of seeking to fulfill Israeli demands while providing it with “reassurance, security and stability.”
MP Ezzeddine said Lebanon entered the negotiations “without any leverage,” allowing the Israeli enemy, with US backing, to expose the weakness of the Lebanese position. The authority was were ultimately “forced to sign the framework agreement, which legitimized the continued occupation,” he said.
He accused the government of becoming “complicit in the bloodshed” resulting from Israeli killings and destruction in occupied areas, saying the agreement demonstrated that the authorities were “completely detached from the reality on the ground in the south.”

The Hezbollah lawmaker further argued that the framework agreement contradicts the government’s own ministerial statement and the president’s inaugural address, saying it had caused the authority to “lose its national compass” and undermined national unity.
He also challenged provisions establishing a security and military coordination committee between the Lebanese Army and the Israeli military, saying such coordination “violates the Constitution, as well as the laws in force.”
Such coordination, MP Ezzeddine added, “places the political authority under scrutiny and necessitates demanding the prosecution of those who have violated the Constitution and applicable laws,” he said.
He stated that when authorities ignore citizens’ problems and remain detached from realities on the ground, “we are truly dealing with a political authority that has lost its legitimacy to govern.”
“Iran Stronger Today”
Turning to Iran, MP Ezzeddine said Lebanon’s ties with the Islamic Republic could help the country emerge from its crisis. He argued that the reduction in Israeli assassinations since the ceasefire was not primarily the result of US or Lebanese measures, but rather “the result of the American-Iranian agreement and the memorandum of understanding that was signed.”
“Iran today is stronger than yesterday,” MP Ezzeddine said, citing its unity, leadership and capabilities.
He said Tehran is seeking to compel Washington to honor the memorandum of understanding, adding that “any future negotiations will prioritize Lebanon and the south, and the issue of the Israeli occupation, as the first item on the agenda” of any US-Iranian agreement.
Such an outcome, he said, could lead to an end to hostilities and Israeli withdrawal to the internationally recognized border with occupied Palestine.
MP Ezzeddine, meanwhile, stressed that Hezbollah’s continued resistance remains a deterrent against further Israeli expansion.
“The resistance is our choice,” he said. “The choice is confrontation, not surrender.”
