Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says Tehran is actively pursuing the full implementation of the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), blaming Washington’s breach of commitments for the ongoing instability in the region.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with Pakistan’s Army chief, Qalibaf emphasized that it was the United States’ bad faith and breach of commitments that prevented stability in the region, further eroding international trust in the country.
The meeting took place on Tuesday evening between Qalibaf and Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan.
The discussions were framed within the context of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to help foster peace and security in West Asia.
During the talks, Qalibaf, who also serves as the head of Iran’s negotiating delegation, reviewed multiple instances of US non-compliance regarding the Islamabad MOU.
He stressed that the obligations of both parties under the agreement are unambiguous.
“It was America that, through its bad faith, prevented the establishment of stability in the region and created yet another reason for distrust in this country,” Qalibaf stated.
