Hezbollah MP: Disarmament North of Litani Only Discussed within National Defense Strategy

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc MP Ali Fayyad ruled out any discussion of the resistance’ disarmament in the area to the north of Litani River, stressing that such issue is exclusively tackled within a national defense strategy and in agreement with the Lebanese State.

In an interview on Saturday, MP Fayyed said: “Hezbollah has entrusted the state with managing the current phase, based on its belief that Lebanon’s interest requires harmony between the resistance and the state.”

In this context, he underlined that the right to defend Lebanon is a collective national responsibility that is not limited to one party.

Fayyad warned against the Israeli enemy’s insistence on what it calls “the right to target any potential threat,” considering that this puts Lebanon in constant danger.

He pointed to the failure of the Mechanism Committee – committee which oversees the 2024 agreement – to stop the Israeli attacks or impose any commitment by the Zionist entity.

Fayyad criticized positions by whom he called some ministers, describing them as escalating stances and run counter to the government’s general policies, in a clear reference to remarks made by Lebanese FM Youssef Rajji earlier this week.

In this context, MP Fayyad called on the Lebanese president and premier to put an end to these practices.

Rajji in an interview with Sky News said that “so long as Hezbollah is not completely disarmed, Israel has the right to continue its attacks.”

Additionally, the Hezbollah lawmaker urged the Lebanese State to assume its responsibilities regarding the Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction and the return of the prisoners.
