The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy emphasized its decisive control over the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting US officials’ statements that the strategic waterway remains open as an “obvious lie” intended to control oil prices and conceal their failures.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the IRGC Navy said, “The statements by US officials regarding the Strait of Hormuz being open are an obvious lie and are solely intended to control the price of oil and cover up their failures.”
“The control of the warriors of Islam over this strategic waterway is completely decisive,” the statement added, stressing that “with full power and in complete authority,” the Strait of Hormuz is blocked to all vessels seeking to transit without coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The IRGC Navy underlined that the restriction would remain in place until the end of the “evil acts of the US terrorist army” against Iran and the implementation of the stipulated commitments.
Earlier on Friday, shipping data showed that seven commodity vessels transited the strategic waterway on Thursday, down from 17 a day earlier and below the 10-day average of 15.
