Lebanese House Speaker and Head of Amal Movement Nabih Berri delivered a televised speech on the 48th anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Sayyed Moussa Al-Sadr in Libya, stressing that ‘Israel’ seeks stirring sedition more than eradicating the resistance.
Speaker Berri stressed that the civil peace, national unity, and the Lebanese army are red lines that cannot be crossed under any pretext.
“The South is an integral part of Lebanon, and the responsibility for preserving it, along with its people, and rebuilding it is the responsibility of the state.”
“We will not accept the South becoming a buffer zone or a security zone, and its people have not been warmongers, yet victims of aggression since 1948,” Speaker Berri added.
“We refuse to relinquish Lebanon’s right to prosecute ‘Israel’ for its aggression and crimes. Relinquishing the right to prosecute ‘Israel’ is a surrender of sovereignty, and no one has the right to compromise on it. This right must not be forfeited through negotiation or the passage of time.”
We warned against the consequences of negotiating under fire, Speaker Berri recalled, adding that, after seven rounds of negotiations, the enemy has been expanding the occupied territory, and continuing its war.
“‘Israel’ is trying to obliterate our memory by destroying our villages, towns, and cities. The current stage, with its inherent risks, does not give anyone the right to act in any way that violates any agreement.”
The war with ‘Israel’ requires a national approach, far removed from any sectarian or religious considerations, he added.
“The homeland belongs to the resistance fighters and to the families that ‘Israel’ has erased from the records of the people, and there is no room for compromise.”
On the other hand, Speaker Berri affirmed support for all efforts and endeavors undertaken by brotherly and friendly nations to preserve the security of the region’s countries.
With respect to the occasion, Speaker Berri indicated that the jailer of Imam al-Sadr is gone, but the mentality of those who succeeded him has not changed and has not cooperated with Lebanon.
