The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Palestinian resistance group, said its fighters confronted a force of Israeli-backed collaborators early Friday during an attempted abduction operation north of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The brigades said a force of collaborating militias, backed by Israeli drones, advanced toward the Al-Qarara area at around 3:30 a.m. in an attempt to abduct one of its fighters.

Al-Quds Brigades fighters detected the force and engaged it “at point-blank range with grenades and medium weapons, inflicting casualties,” the statement read.

Israeli drones then intervened to cover the force’s withdrawal, the group said, adding that members of the militia force shot and killed the abducted fighter before leaving his body at the scene.

The brigades identified the martyred fighter as Fadi Ali Saeed Al-Abadleh, a member of its Al-Qarara Battalion within the Khan Yunis Brigade.

“We mourn our martyr, the fighter Fadi Ali Saeed Al-Abadleh,” the statement said.

Footage and images circulated by Palestinian media later showed his funeral procession, where mourners gathered to bid farewell to the martyred fighter.

The statement comes days after another Israeli special operation in western Gaza City was exposed and confronted by Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, and security forces.
