Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri accused the Israeli enemy of turning southern Lebanon, its people and their property into a “ballot box of blood” in an election race among Israeli officials over who can kill and destroy the most.

In a statement addressing the ongoing wide-scale Israeli attacks, Speaker Berri condemned the killing of civilians and the continuing “war of extermination,” saying the scale and nature of the crimes amount to “state terrorism.”

He cited the targeting of children, women and civilians in Maifdoun, Al-Ramadiyah, Maidoun and Arab Salim, as well as the destruction of Ghandouriyeh Hospital in Nabatieh Al-Fawqa and the targeting of the Finance Ministry’s office in Nabatieh.

The Lebanese speaker also pointed to continued Israeli destruction across the districts of Nabatieh, Marjeyoun, Bint Jbeil and Tyre.

He said the continued attacks demonstrate that ‘Israel’ has failed to honor any ceasefire agreement and is “disregarding all rules, agreements and understandings.”

Speaker Berri said the situation in southern Lebanon carries both an international and national responsibility, calling for urgent international intervention to stop the war.

He also urged all Lebanese parties to stand with the south, stressing that “its cause is the cause of all Lebanese” and that defending it is tantamount to defending Lebanon.

Speaker Berri offered condolences to those martyred in the Israeli attacks and wished the wounded a speedy recovery.
