Lebanon’s Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar met Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad during an official visit before signing a memorandum of understanding with his Pakistani counterpart on the exchange of prisoners.
During the meeting, Al-Hajjar conveyed the greetings of Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and affirmed “Lebanon’s desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan and develop relations between the two countries across various fields, particularly security, in a way that serves shared interests and enhances coordination in confronting existing regional challenges.”
Sharif welcomed Al-Hajjar, stressing “the importance of strengthening the fraternal relations between the two countries” and conveying “his warmest wishes to the Lebanese leadership.” He also condemned “the Israeli aggression against Lebanon,” affirming “Pakistan’s steadfast solidarity with Lebanon and its people during these difficult times and its support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The meeting was attended on the Pakistani side by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar; Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi; Housing Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada; and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.

Representing Lebanon were Lebanon’s Ambassador to Pakistan Abdel Aziz Issa; Internal Security Forces Director General Maj. Gen. Raed Abdullah; Secretary of the Central Internal Security Council Brig. Gen. Sami Nassif; and Information Branch Chief at the Internal Security Forces Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Qabarsali.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Hajjar, representing Lebanon, and Naqvi, representing Pakistan, signed, in the presence of Sharif, a memorandum of understanding between the Lebanese and Pakistani governments on the exchange of prisoners, on behalf of Lebanon’s Ministry of Justice.
