Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to Beijing on Wednesday for an official visit, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei announced.

According to Baqaei, FM Araghchi will hold talks and exchange views with his Chinese counterpart during the visit on bilateral relations, as well as key regional and international issues.

The visit comes as the two sides are set to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties and exchange perspectives on important regional and international developments.

Araghchi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi have held several meetings and phone calls in recent months, with Beijing repeatedly calling for dialogue and a diplomatic resolution to regional tensions.

During their most recent meeting in July, Wang stressed that progress achieved through dialogue should not be abandoned and that the door to negotiations should remain open.

Araghchi has previously described China as Iran’s comprehensive strategic partner and expressed Tehran’s appreciation for Beijing’s efforts to promote peace and de-escalation. The two sides have also emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues.
