The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) warned that any new aggression against Iran would trigger major changes in Tehran’s defensive and retaliatory response, including a shift in the geography of the war, the weapons used and the targets struck.
Speaking in an interview, IRGC Spokesperson Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said Iran is prepared for a prolonged war and warned that any renewed aggression would be met with a significantly different response, including expanding the geography of the conflict.
He said the IRGC’s assessment of the war with the US, the Zionist regime and their allies is that Washington has suffered a “historic and disgraceful defeat” but lacks the courage to acknowledge and accept it, Tasnim news agency reported on Monday.

He pointed specifically to the US failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying that despite Washington possessing the world’s largest navy and defining its regional and global presence as being aimed at securing the flow of energy and freedom of navigation, it has been unable to reopen the strategic waterway.
The IRGC spokesperson also referred to losses inflicted upon US military bases in the region, saying that all US sites came under attack by Iranian missiles and drones, with most of them having been rendered inoperable.
Asked whether the current conflict represents a new stage of the war or a continuation of the same conflict, General Mohebbi said, “From our point of view, it is the same war.” He explained that the war has different phases but “has not ended” and continues.
The IRGC has already prepared for a prolonged war and is now even more prepared for such a scenario, the spokesman stated.
General Mohebbi nevertheless warned that a new phase involving renewed aggression would bring a fundamentally different Iranian response.
“If a new aggression takes place, there will definitely be significant changes in our defense and our counteroffensive,” he said.
He identified the first major change as the geography of the conflict, warning, “We will definitely change the geography of the war.”
The spokesperson said changes would also involve the weapons and military equipment Iran employs, adding, “We will definitely bring new weapons with new capabilities into the battlefield, and the world will be surprised.”
