Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed his greetings and wishes for health and success to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, as he met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) leaders’ summit and a Caspian Sea environmental summit, Putin stressed the importance of ending the war, noting that Iran had presented new proposals aimed at resolving the crisis.
“We know that Iran is making genuine efforts to end the conflict,” Putin told Pezeshkian.
The Russian president said Moscow would make every effort to achieve a diplomatic settlement, noting that ending the ongoing war remained a key regional priority.
Putin, meanwhile, welcomed the growing cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, describing their strategic interests and policies as closely aligned and their bilateral ties as steadily expanding.

Pezeshkian, for his part, reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to negotiations despite repeated US attacks following talks, stressing that Iran would not abandon dialogue and remained determined to end the war while safeguarding its national rights under international law.
Tehran was revising its proposals, he explained, adding that the sides would meet through existing intermediaries once the revisions were finalized to review and consolidate their positions.
“Our efforts are aimed at ending the war and ensuring that the rights of the Iranian nation are respected within the framework of international law,” Pezeshkian said, warning that a settlement based on US unilateralism would not be possible.
