Head of Hezbollah Executive Council Sheikh Ali Damoush announced on Tuesday the launch of “Promise and Commitment” housing program in aid of displaced families and those whose homes were destroyed or rendered uninhabitable by Israeli wars in 2024 and 2026.
In a press conference in Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh, Sheikh Damoush reaffirmed Hezbollah’s commitment to stand by displaced people despite the sacrifices offered by Hezbollah resistance movement over the past three years.
“Those who bet on Hezbollah’s inability to heal the people’s wounds will be disappointed,” he said, reaffirming the party’s unwavering support for the families who stood by the Resistance and stressing that the Resistance, in turn, would never abandon them.
Sheikh Damoush added that Hezbollah’s efforts to serve the people have been made possible by the blessing of the martyrs’ blood, renewing the pledge to remain committed to the path the martyrs have charted.
Housing Program Details
The top Hezbollah official said the program would provide up to $14,000 for housing in Beirut and its southern suburbs and $12,000 elsewhere, covering rental and furniture costs for eligible families affected by the 2024 and 2026 wars.
“Today we prove once again that we are a resistance that does not shirk its responsibilities,” Sheikh Damoush said, pledging to do everything possible to preserve the dignity of the people who have endured displacement and destruction.
The assistance will be distributed in four installments over one year, with the first payment set at $3,500 for eligible families in Beirut and its southern suburbs and $3,000 in other areas. The program targets families whose primary homes were destroyed, structurally damaged or rendered uninhabitable, as well as residents forced to leave occupied or border areas where returning home remains unsafe or impossible.
Sheikh Damoush stressed that the initiative reflects a renewed commitment by Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem and builds on the movement’s previous housing assistance efforts. He described the project as a moral and religious obligation, insisting that it was not a substitute for the state’s responsibility to provide shelter and oversee reconstruction.
“The project has begun, and we will complete it, God willing,” he said, calling for solidarity with displaced families and warning landlords and furniture sellers against exploiting the assistance by raising rents or prices.
Sheikh Damoush also said Hezbollah had surveyed affected communities and established specialized committees to identify eligible homes and beneficiaries. He emphasized that aid would be extended across affected areas without regard to political or sectarian affiliation.

Sheltering Displaced People State’s Responsibility
The top Hezbollah official said the Lebanese resistance group would continue supporting its people despite the hardships and pressure it had faced, while reiterating that reconstruction and sheltering displaced families remain the state’s responsibility.
In this context, he slammed the Lebanese authorities on their conduct regarding dealing with displaced people.
“To this day, Lebanese authorities have done nothing to ease the people’s suffering, instead deepening their wounds with misleading rhetoric and incitement against them and the martyrs.”
“Reconstruction and sheltering displaced people are the State’s responsibility, this issue must be kept separate from any political considerations.”
