President Aoun to Delegation of Southern Border Towns: State Obligated to Help You

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Friday told a delegation representing residents of the southern border towns that the Lebanese State “is obligated” to help them.

Receiving the delegation at Baabda Palace, President Aoun said international contacts “are constantly demanding a halt to Israeli attacks.”

In this context, the Lebanese president stressed that “Lebanon’s security is inseparable from the security of its South,” as announced in a post by the Lebanese Presidency on X platform.

He pointed to that the Lebanese authorities are working in coordination with the Lebanese Army Command to strengthen its deployment in the border villages.

“Our main demand in the Mechanism meetings is to prioritize of the return of residents to their villages and homes in the border villages, and the release of prisoners,” he said, referring to Mechanism committee overseeing the 2024 ceasefire between Lebanon and the Zionist entity.

President Aoun addressed his visitors, saying, “You are our sons, and the state is obligated to help you,” adding that he would discuss the issue of compensation and necessary aid for reconstruction with prime minister and the minister of finance.

He continued, “I agree with the Speaker of Parliament and the Prime Minister on the necessity of alleviating your suffering; this is our national duty.”
