Israeli journalist and defense analyst Yoav Limor has questioned repeated claims by the Israeli regime of victory over Iran, asking how the Iranian weapons industry, previously declared destroyed, managed to return to full operation within just six months.
In an article published in the Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom, Limor argued that explanations pointing to Iran’s domestic efforts and assistance from Russia and China were insufficient to account for the rapid recovery.
“Those who boasted—twice—that we had won must explain how it took so long for it to become clear that we had not won,” he wrote.
Limor urged Israeli leaders to exercise greater restraint in declaring victories, stressing that credibility was essential.
“It is better to be humble, and above all, credible,” he said, warning that previous declarations of victory had undermined public trust in Israeli claims about its military campaigns.
He also revisited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration following the 2025 Israeli war on Iran that ‘Israel’ had thrown the Iranian nuclear program “into the abyss,” noting that the term implied irreversible destruction.
“Netanyahu has excellent Hebrew and chooses his words carefully,” Limor wrote, urging interviewers to confront the Israeli prime minister with his earlier statements in light of the renewed urgency with which he now presents to counter the Iranian threat.

Limor argued that the central lesson of the October 7 Hamas attack was that ‘Israel’ must address emerging threats before they develop into “strategic dangers.”
“Any Israeli government that is formed will deal with any threat while it is small, before it turns into a strategic danger,” he wrote, describing this as a lesson that would remain relevant for generations.
While acknowledging that Israeli leaders could disagree over whether threats should be addressed through military action, agreements, or a combination of both, Limor concluded that no future leader would risk being caught off guard again.
“No leader will risk being surprised again at 6:29 a.m.,” he wrote, referring to the time the October 7 attack began.
