A senior Iranian parliamentary figure says the recent confrontation with the opposing side has opened the way for a significant transformation in Iran’s air defense and offensive capabilities, arguing that closing existing gaps will further bolster the country’s deterrent power.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis), made the remarks in comments carried by Iranian media, offering Tehran’s assessment of the recent hostilities and its posture going forward.
“Having failed to achieve its military objectives, the opposing side is now seeking a political exit, but Iran will not be deceived by such unconstructive behavior,” Boroujerdi said.
He noted that despite the losses and the martyrdom of commanders, the recent phase has contributed to strengthening Iran’s military and political power as well as its national cohesion. Maintaining unity and remaining vigilant against the enemy’s attempts to incite internal division, he said, remains a primary priority.
The lawmaker further emphasized that Iran does not trust the United States and will not be misled by its maneuvers, stating that Tehran stands ready to deliver a response that will make the enemy regret its actions.
He added that while Iran does not reject the diplomatic path, it enters negotiations from a position of strength, with the aim of securing its rights and upholding its sovereign demands.
The remarks underscore Tehran’s dual-track approach—projecting military resolve while keeping the door open to diplomacy—as regional tensions persist.
