Speaker Berri: Lies Seek to Sow Confusion and Falsely Depict Lebanon as Capitulating to ‘Israel’

Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri warned on Monday against lies and fabrications which have been circulating regarding Lebanon’s official stance on the Israeli attacks.

In remarks to Lebanese daily Al-Jomhouriya, the Lebanese speaker said that such lies “sow internal confusion by falsely suggesting that Lebanon has fully capitulated to ‘Israel’ and relinquished its core principles.”

He stressed, meanwhile, that the stance is clear and well established: “We remain committed to the ceasefire agreement and to the Mechanism committee, both in form and in substance.”

Speaker Berri noted that the Mechanism committee was established under the ceasefire agreement, “with Lebanon having a direct and vested interest in its role as a means to halt the aggression.”

He affirmed that the committee’s mandate is to oversee the implementation of the agreement, monitor compliance, and prevent violations and attacks.

“However, Israel fundamentally seeks to undermine the committee, despite its already weak performance and its failure to effectively carry out the responsibilities entrusted to it,” Speaker Berri warned.

The Israeli enemy continues to bomb Lebanon, mainly the country’s south, almost daily and maintains occupation over five posts along the southern border, in violation of a ceasefire deal reached following the 2024 Israeli war.

At least 440 people have been martyred by Israeli attacks since November 2024, according to toll released by Lebanon’s Health Ministry and updated by Al-Manar.

Enemy forces also stage infiltrations into Lebanese territory on daily bases, blowing up houses in the border towns.
