Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance Parliamentary bloc MP Hussein Hajj Hasan stressed on Thursday that the national sovereignty can never be achieved in light of continuous Israeli occupation and aggression.

Addressing a Parliament session to debate the 2026 general budget, MP Hajj Hasan slammed what he called selective approach in dealing with the ministerial statement and political affairs.

“Officials are talking about great achievements regarding the so-called extending state’s authority, but sovereignty can never be achieved in light of the continued occupation and aggression.”

In this context, he pointed out that “Lebanon has been committed to the 2024 ceasefire, unlike the Zionist enemy.”

He noted that the Israeli attacks have been taking place “under full US cover and in light of Washington’s threats, amid silence by most of Lebanese officials.”

“Concessions will only lead to more concessions,” the Hezbollah lawmaker affirmed, calling for “national unity, dialogue and mutual understanding in the best interests of Lebanon and its people.”

Meanwhile, MP Hajj Hasan noted that “the 2026 budget lacks a clear economic framework capable of addressing current and future challenges.”

He wondered about the government’s position on the public sector—including active-duty military personnel, retirees, and teachers—and how does the government intend to address their demands.

“The budget increased tax levels but did not change economic or tax policy,” the lawmaker stated.
