Qatar PM Meets Iran Larijani, Araghchi in Tehran Visit

Qatari prime minister visited Tehran on Saturday and held meetings with Iranian foreign minister and a top security official, Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, who is also Qatar’s Foreign Minister, met with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.

According to the spokesman, the meetings were conducted within the framework of ongoing good offices and consultations among regional countries on current regional developments, with discussions focusing on the preservation of peace and stability in the region.

Following the visit, the Qatari government issued an official statement, confirming the talks.

According to the statement, ongoing efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region were reviewed during the meeting.

Throughout the meetings, the top Qatari official emphasized Doha’s support for all initiatives intended to lower tensions and achieve peaceful solutions that contribute to strengthening security and stability across the region, it read.

Al Thani also stressed the importance of exerting efforts to protect the peoples of the region from the consequences of escalating tensions, while continuing coordination with brotherly and friendly countries to address differences through diplomatic channels, the statement added.
