Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Ibrahim Al-Moussawi on Sunday hit back at remarks made by the Head of Lebanese delegation to the Mechanism committee overseeing the 2024 ceasefire Simon Karam.

In remarks released by Hezbollah’s Media Relations, MP Al-Moussawi stressed that improvising proposals by Karam regarding operations in the area to the north of Litani River are fully rejected as they are considered a breach to the mandate of the Mechanism committee by exceeding he authority granted to it.

“The Mechanism Committee, according to the agreement on 27/11/2024, has a purely technical mission aimed at implementing the commitment of the parties to the agreement to its specific clauses, the scope of which is limited to the area south of the Litani River only,” MP Al-Moussawi said, according to Hezbollah’s Media Relations.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker said that suggestive signals made by Karam aimed at doubting Hezbollah’s cooperation and compliance with the 2024 ceasefire agreement contradict remarks by President Joseph Aoun, Lebanese Army Command and UNIFIL.

MP Al-Moussawi slammed Karam over “adopting Israeli enemy’s claims and false narrative,” stressing that such approach “confirms his poor judgment and his inability to understand the facts and circumstances.”

The Hezbollah MP reiterated that the “Lebanese authorities’ move in which it slipped into the trap of appointing a civilian to head the delegation to the Mechanism Committee is a second grave sin after the sin of the so-called arms monopoly plan which has been very dangerous in light of the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon.”
