Hezbollah Mourns Commander Haj Ali Hasan Salhab (Haj Malek), Distinguished Resistance Icon

Hezbollah announced on Monday the death of Commander Haj Ali Hassan Salhab (Haj Malek), describing him as a veteran of jihad and a lifelong champion of the resistance.

In its official statement, Hezbollah stated that Haj Ali Hassan Salhab passed away after a struggle with illness, concluding a long history of sacrifice, dedication, and struggle. It noted that from the outset of the resistance, Haj Malek devoted himself fully to its cause, offering his life, time, and resources to defend Lebanon against Israeli and takfiri aggression in the southern and Bekaa fronts.

Legacy and Contributions

Hezbollah described Haj Malek as a symbol of Lebanon’s Islamic resistance and a key architect of its victories, a tireless leader who remained steadfast through crises and inspired generations of fighters through his leadership and mentorship.

“Commander Haj Ali Hassan Salhab has now joined the ranks of his fellow fighters and martyrs, fulfilling his covenant with God with patience, hope, and devotion.”

The group extended condolences to its members, fighters, and supporters, praying that God accept Haj Malek as a sincere, selfless struggler and place him among the martyrs and the righteous, alongside prophets, saints, and companions.

Biography of Haj Ali Hassan Salhab (Haj Malek)

Born on March 1, 1963, in Brital, Bekaa, Haj Ali Hassan Salhab joined Hezbollah in 1983, rising through a series of military and operational roles. Over the years, he held key positions, including Deputy Head of Operations in the Central Military Unit (1998), leadership roles in the Regional and Khiam Command, Commander of Unit Nasr (2004), and Head of the Military Command against takfiri aggression (2016).

He participated in and led numerous significant operations before and after 2000, including Aramta, Ghajar, and the 2000 and 2006 capture operations, and completed extensive military and leadership training, cementing his reputation as a skilled and strategic commander.

Haj Ali Hassan Salhab passed away on February 2, 2026, after a long illness, leaving behind a legacy of courage, leadership, and devotion to the resistance.
