Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sent on Wednesday a letter of condolence to Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem following the death of Sayyed Abdulkarim Nasrallah, the father of Hezbollah martyred secretary general Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah.

In his letter, Velayati praised the late Abdulkarim Nasrallah as a patient fighter and a foundational pillar of the resistance in confronting Israel.

“The loss of this steadfast fighter is a source of deep sorrow and grief for us. On this occasion, I extend my sincerest condolences first to the esteemed Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, then to senior religious scholars, the fighters in the path of Islam, and the honorable family of the deceased.”

He also prayed for the health and continued guidance of Sheikh Naim Qassem, describing him as “one of the loyal companions of Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah,” and extended his wishes to all fighters of the Islamic Resistance.

Velayati went on to stress the depth of ties between Iran and Lebanon, citing close cooperation with Hezbollah, deep familiarity with the movement’s trajectory, and the historical role of Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah. He noted that longstanding cooperation between Iran and the Shiite community of Jabal Amel (south Lebanon) reflects “a firm and historical relationship” between the two countries.

“This bond embodies unity along a shared ideological and civilizational path between the Shiites of Lebanon and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Velayati said.

Describing Iran as the backbone of the resistance, Velayati affirmed Tehran’s readiness to confront any external threats, particularly from the United States and the Israeli enemy, and reiterated its unwavering support for the resistance in Lebanon.

“Victory, God willing, will belong to the Resistance Front. In continuation of the path set by Imam Khomeini and in support of the unity of the Islamic nation.”

Velayati concluded by emphasizing that Iran’s support for the resistance, combined with what he described as the courage and resilience of Lebanon’s Resistance Front, provides a strong shield against Israeli threats, underscoring that this support will continue within the framework of historical ties and shared religious principles between Iran and Lebanon.
