Negotiations between Iran and the United States began this morning in the Omani capital, Muscat, amid Tehran’s insistence on its rights in the face of American pressures, and as the White House awaits the outcome of the talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that his country is negotiating in good faith while adhering to its red lines, emphasizing that the missile program and uranium enrichment are non-negotiable.
The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Araghchi presented his Omani counterpart with a preliminary plan for managing the current situation with Washington and advancing the negotiations.

The Omani Foreign Ministry announced that, within the framework of Oman’s hosting of the talks concerning the Iranian nuclear file, the Omani Foreign Minister held separate consultations this morning with the Iranian delegation, headed by Araghchi , and the American delegation, headed by Steve Whitaker, the Special Representative of the President of the United States, and Jared Kushner.
The statement added that these consultations focused on creating the appropriate conditions for the resumption of diplomatic and technical negotiations, emphasizing their importance in light of both sides’ efforts to ensure the success of these talks and achieve lasting security and stability.

The Omani Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting dialogue and bridging the gap between the two sides, and announced Oman’s readiness to cooperate with various partners to reach mutually agreed-upon political solutions that align with the desired goals and aspirations. He concluded by expressing his deep appreciation for the efforts of regional countries supporting these negotiations.
In contrast, the White House announced that President Donald Trump is awaiting the results of the talks, while emphasizing the priority of the diplomatic track, in parallel with US military reinforcements in the Middle East.

The Secretary of Iran’s Defense Council, Admiral Ali Shamkhani, described Foreign Minister Araghchi as a skilled and strategic negotiator who enjoys the trust of the highest levels of decision-making and military and security institutions. Shamkhani added, “We in the armed forces, alongside the leaders of the diplomatic arena and under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will spare no effort in safeguarding the nation’s interests.”
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had issued a decree appointing Admiral Shamkhani as Secretary of the Defense Council. The responsibilities of this position include establishing and managing the Council’s secretariat, designing and enhancing comprehensive defense readiness, and developing mechanisms to counter emerging threats.
