Director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex Mohammad Abu Selmia revealed on Friday that the bodies handed over by the Israeli occupation displayed signs of severe mutilation, including missing limbs and evidence of surgical intervention.

In remarks on Friday, Abu Selmia said the Israeli occupation handed over to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, via the International Committee of the Red Cross, 54 bodies along with 66 boxes containing human remains.

The boxes contained skulls, remains and human organs, he elaborated, noting that most of these bodies were severely mutilated, making identification extremely difficult.

The director of Al-Shifa Complex explained that among the bodies handed over by the Israeli occupation were the bodies of women whose place of detention or the circumstances of their abduction are unknown.

Some bodies were with amputated limbs and others bore signs of abdominal cutting followed by surgical stitching, raising serious concerns over atrocities committed against civilians, Abu Selmia stated, as quoted by Palestinian media.

He confirmed that there are clear indications of organ theft, noting that the Israeli occupation knows the identities of the bodies it returned but refuses to disclose them, in flagrant violation of the rights of the victims and their families.

In a video from inside Al-Shifa Hospital, Abu Selmia said the occupation sent vehicles designated for morgue refrigerators to deliver human remains and bodies, instead of sending medicines and medical supplies, adding that these bodies bear clear signs of torture and cannot be identified in any way.

Abu Selmia pointed out that medical teams are unable to identify a large number of bodies due to the severity of the mutilation, as well as the lack of forensic tools and DNA tests necessary for documentation and identification.

The medical complex director added that thousands of Palestinians remain missing as a result of the ongoing aggression, with approximately 10,000 still missing under the rubble.

Earlier on Wednesday, Health Ministry in Gaza said it received 54 unidentified bodies from the Israeli occupation along with 66 boxes containing the remains of Palestinians martyred during the two-year Israeli genocide in Gaza.

Al-Shifa Hospital had received the unidentified bodies and remains late Wednesday evening via the Red Cross.
