Hezbollah MP: National Sovereignty Not Won by Offering Concessions to Israeli Enemy

Hezbollah MP Hussein Hajj Hasan during ceremony on Hezbollah martyred Leaders in the southern Lebanese town of Taffahta (February 14, 2026).

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance Bloc MP Hussein Hajj Hasan stressed on Saturday that national sovereignty can’t be achieved by yielding or keeping quiet while the Israeli enemy goes ahead with its aggression on Lebanon.

Talking during a ceremony in the place where former Hezbollah S.G. Sayyed Abbas Al-Moussawi embraced martyrdom by an Israeli strike in the southern town of Taffahta in 1992, the lawmaker said that the country has been confronting foreign-orchestrated immense challenges.

“We face pressures, tyranny, and conspiracies orchestrated by the great powers of this world, whose true faces are now being exposed and laid bare before all of humanity.”

MP Hajj Hasan noted that the “US tyranny is no longer confined to our region; it has expanded across the world, reaching Europe and even Canada.”

In this context, he wondered: “Are we expected to surrender to this American–Israeli aggression—handing over our strength only to become a spectacle of submission and endless concessions? Or, as Lebanese seeking genuine sovereignty, must we first define what sovereignty truly means?”.

“Is sovereignty complete while the enemy occupies our land, sustains its occupation, and expands it further? Can sovereignty exist while the enemy kills daily on territory the state claims to have brought under its authority? Is sovereignty achieved when children like Ali Hassan Jaber are killed and the state remains silent? When villages are infiltrated and Lebanese citizens are abducted—the latest being Atwi Atwi from Habbarieh?”, the Hezbollah lawmaker said further, referring to attacks earlier this week that killed a 3-year-old child and led to abduction of a citizen in south Lebanon.

MP Hajj Hasan affirmed, meanwhile, that the resistance group seeks a stable relationship with the pillars of the state, free from tension or confrontation.

“But we also ask: how can one speak of extending sovereignty when, in practice, that extension appears to move only in the Lebanese direction, while toward Israel it amounts to nothing?”.

“You made concessions—where did they lead? To further concessions, with nothing to show for them. You gave the Americans everything they demanded. What have they given you in return? Nothing.”
