Israeli Occupation Forces Kill Palestinian Teen in Nablus Amid West Bank Arrest Campaign

RAMALLAH, WEST BANK - FEBRUARY 21: The Israeli army continues attacks on the El-Halayil Bedouin community, forcing 11 Palestinian families to leave their homes in Ramallah, West Bank, on February 21, 2026. A Palestinian youth, Mohammad Hannini, was fatally shot, and a 16-year-old was injured as Israeli occupation forces unleashed a violent crackdown in Beit Furiq, east of Nablus, part of a broader wave of raids and arrests across the occupied West Bank.

Fatal Shooting and Injuries

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Hannini, 20, was shot in the head and later succumbed to his injuries. Another teenager, 16, was shot in the leg during the Israeli incursion.

The town of Beit Furiq had been under Israeli military raids since Saturday afternoon, following an attack by settlers on the local Officers’ Neighborhood. Soldiers reportedly fired at vehicles and smashed windows during the raid, while a 14-year-old was also wounded by live fire while attempting to resist the assault.

Widespread Raids and Arrests

Israeli forces carried out extensive overnight and morning operations across the West Bank on Sunday, involving house raids, searches, and harassment of residents, including on-site interrogations after hours of detention. Operations were particularly focused in Qalqilya and Al-Arroub refugee camp in Hebron.

On Saturday evening, Israeli forces entered Hableh, south of Qalqilya, patrolling streets and neighborhoods, although no arrests were reported. In Sarta, west of Salfit, the army set up checkpoints and deployed across multiple neighborhoods without reported detentions. However, local sources confirmed the arrest of a 15-year-old from Al-Zawiya, west of Salfit.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported that in Azzun, east of Qalqilya, Israeli forces arrested three brothers—Yahya, Yaqub, and Rashad Ahmed Salim—and detained their father, assaulting him in the process. Additional arrests in Qalqilya included young men Aboud Nofal, Mazen Abu Al-Sheikh, Amr Hilal, freed prisoner Adham Oweinat, and Amir Khader, following home raids.

In Al-Arroub camp north of Hebron, Israeli occupation forces arrested Eiham Fouad Abu Taqia, Yamen Abu Ghazi, and Ali Adel Jawabra, while Ahmad Youssef Qanazeh and Hadi Rani Al-Jabeer were detained at the entrance of Bita, south of Nablus.

In Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin, dozens of young men were detained in a local café and nearby shops for questioning before some were released. Reports indicated assaults against several youths and the beating of a driver during these raids.

The military also raided Tubas, deploying tear gas into residential areas, and conducted operations in Arraba and Deir Dhi’if in Jenin, Yatta in Hebron, and Aqbat Jabr camp in Jericho, with patrols in surrounding streets.

Escalating Occupation Violence

Most West Bank towns experience repeated night raids by Israeli forces, often involving house searches, assaults on civilians, theft, and daily arrests of youths and released prisoners.

Since the start of the Israeli enemy’s 2023 war on Gaza in October, violence in the West Bank has escalated, including killings, arrests, forced displacement, and settlement expansion.

These attacks have resulted in the deaths of 1,116 Palestinians, injuries to roughly 11,500, and the detention of nearly 22,000, including in East Jerusalem.
