MP Ali Fayad: Condemnation Statements Meaningless, “Mechanism” Meetings Empty and Suspicious

MP Ali Fayad: Condemnation Statements Meaningless, "Mechanism" Meetings Empty and Suspicious (Feb 22, 2026).

The member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Dr. Ali Fayad warned that the Israeli enemy is intensifying its aggression, committing a massacre in the Beqaa Valley by targeting civilian homes in densely populated neighborhoods, resulting in 10 fatalities and nearly 30 injuries.

He stressed that the gravity of this military escalation is compounded by the Zionist entity’s official declaration of its intent to maintain occupied positions as “security zones” within Lebanon and Syria, a highly dangerous stance that cannot be overlooked in Lebanon’s strategic assessments.

Fayad made his remarks during a commemorative ceremony for the late Ahmad Hussein Termos (Abu Hussein) at the Imam Al-Mujtaba Complex in Beirut’s Dahiyeh, attended by Hezbollah’s MP Amin Sherri, MP Ali Hassan Khalil, Iranian Chargé d’Affaires Tawfiq Samadi, Hezbollah Beirut Area Official Hussein Fadlallah, religious figures, civil activists, and families of the martyrs.

Israeli Enemy’s Intentions and the Threat to Lebanese Sovereignty

MP Fayad questioned what the Israeli enemy’s clear and explicit position truly signifies, stressing that there should be no Lebanese dispute or misinterpretation. “Israel is pressuring to disarm the resistance, not as a precursor to withdrawal, but to retain occupied Lebanese territories. This strategy aims to remove Lebanon’s resistance capabilities while keeping control of the land, continuing violations of sovereignty, targeting perceived threats, and imposing security arrangements to pave the way for normalization and economic cooperation.”

“What benefits will Lebanon gain from these negotiations? None. No security, no sovereignty, no stability, no return for displaced border village residents. The current negotiation track, backed by the US, has rendered Lebanon’s position empty and meaningless, offering Israel open-ended, dangerous conditions with no tangible benefits, while posing severe threats to Lebanese interests,” MP Fayad further asked.

The Beqaa Massacre: A Wake-Up Call

MP Fayad described the Beqaa massacre as the culmination of open Israeli escalation, warning that all Lebanese, and particularly the government, must confront this reality responsibly. He emphasized that this situation cannot continue as if it were normal, and Lebanon must reassess its overall position to break free from a costly and painful status quo.

Condemnation and the Right to Resistance

Hezbollah’s Fayad stated that official condemnation statements no longer carry weight, and mechanism meetings are empty and suspicious. Policies of concessions, he warned, only encourage Israel and fail to push it toward restraint. The Israeli declaration of its intention to remain in Lebanese territory, assassinate youth, and destroy livelihoods, he argued, justifies the Lebanese people’s right to resist and defend their land, particularly as alternative options have failed.

He added that this stance is declared from a position of responsibility and genuine concern, aiming to initiate a new Lebanese reality capable of building the state, ensuring stability, advancing recovery, and safeguarding sovereignty.

Honoring the Martyr Ahmad Termos

MP Fayad concluded by honoring Ahmad Termos, father of a martyr, describing him as steadfast and serene despite the tragedy of losing his son. Over the past months, Termos had been actively serving his community through social, health, and civic initiatives. When warned by Israel that he would be targeted, he chose to face his fate courageously, as do heroic martyrs, fully trusting in God. Fayad described his death as the blessed culmination of a life dedicated to sacrifice and struggle.
