Iran’s Top Diplomat Affirms Most Officials Are Safe, Discusses with Russia’s Counterpart Role of UNSC in Halting Aggression

The Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, President Massoud Pezeshkian, and most officials are safe, adding that the US-Israeli aggression claimed one or two officials only.

Meanwhile, Araghchi discussed, in a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, the role of the UN Security Council in stopping the aggression on Iran.

For his part, Lavrov said the strikes on Iran violate the principles and norms of international law and disregard the grave consequences for regional and global stability and security.

He noted Russia’s readiness, including at the UN Security Council, to facilitate the search for peaceful solutions based on international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests.

Lavrov also emphasized the need to immediately cease attacks against Iran and return to a political and diplomatic resolution.

In this regard, the UN Security council is going to convene in few hours in an emergency session on Iran.

Araghchi added that the joint US-Israeli aggression against Iran was unprovoked, unlawful and illegitimate.

He slammed President Trump, for turning his America First campaign promise into an “Israel First” agenda, which in practice means “America Last.”

The United States and the Israeli regime launched a joint act of aggression against Iran early on Saturday.

The Iranian Armed Forces launched massive retaliatory strikes, targeting the Israeli-occupied territories and American military bases across the region with ballistic missiles and drones.
