Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday announced after the Cabinet session at Baabda Palace that the government rejected the recent rocket launches claimed by Hezbollah, describing them as a violation of the Constitution, the National Accord Document, and the government’s ministerial statement.
Following deliberations, the Cabinet declared the Lebanese state’s absolute rejection of any military or security activity conducted from its territory outside legitimate state institutions. It affirmed that the decision of war and peace rests exclusively with the state, calling for the immediate prohibition of Hezbollah’s military and security activities and obliging it to hand over its weapons and confine its role to political activity within constitutional and legal frameworks.
The Cabinet tasked military and security agencies with taking immediate measures to prevent any armed operations, rocket launches, or drone activity from Lebanese territory and to arrest violators.
It also instructed the Army command to immediately and decisively implement the plan presented on February 16, 2026, regarding restricting weapons north of the Litani River.
The Cabinet further called on guarantor states of the cessation of hostilities to secure a clear and final Israeli commitment to halt all attacks on Lebanese territory, reaffirmed Lebanon’s full adherence to the ceasefire framework, and expressed readiness to resume negotiations with international mediation.
Finally, it tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with intensifying diplomatic contacts to halt Israeli attacks, and the Ministry of Social Affairs with securing shelter, food, and essential supplies for displaced persons in coordination with relevant authorities.
